From the creator of breakthrough Japanese animation film “AKIRA”

Set in a fictional Victorian England where the Steam Engine is evolving, boy prodigy RAY STIM masters a devastatingly powerful new invention, and uses it to fight evil, redeem his family and save London from destruction.

STEAM BOY takes us on a grand tour of 19th Century England from Manchester to London and into the midst of The Great Exhibition. It then turns into a hyperbolic ride of epic productions involving fabulous machines and inventions.

In realizing the vision, digital animation was utilized as never before, each frame given the warmth of nature, the softness of hand-drown lines, and a touch of OTOMO’s genius, resulting a look which is at once nostalgic and state-of-the-art.

In “AKIRA,” OTOMO gave us a never-future apocalypse. In “Steam Boy,” going back two centuries, he now offers us a vision of hope, a celebration of the power to dream, to imagine and to love…

This action-packed film is a perfect family entertainment of the new millennium and should appeal to all children at heart.
