THE SEASIDE MOTEL
Don't you think there's something strange about the name of this motel?
The name is "Seaside Motel" but it's surrounded by mountains, and there is no sign of the sea anywhere near.
Welcome to the "Seaside Motel"
This is a story about one night in a motel. People from different walks of life gather at the "Seaside Motel." All the guests are curious why it is called "Seaside Motel" since it is located in the mountains and no sea is found anywhere near.
The motel guests are in one way or another eccentric in character, and in one way or another, seem to be unhappy and unlucky. In each room, strange incidents and unexpected coincidences occur. Gradually, as each story unravels, the paths of the characters cross and the stories interweave as the night nears the end.
When the sun rises, as each hope for just a small dose of happiness, will they be able to find "the sea" in the "Seaside Motel" surrounded by the mountains?
[ABOUT THE FILM]
Director Kenatro Moriya brings the stylish manga "Motel" by Yukio Okada to life in vivacious colors, with help from a fresh ensemble cast Toma Ikuta, Kumiko Aso, Takayuki Yamada, Riko Narumi, and Tetsuji Tamayama. The characters are all very eccentric: a lousy salesman, a call girl nearing thirty, a mid-life crises married couple, a yakuza gang member, a guy on the run to avoid paying debt, his girlfriend, a desperate thirty-something guy trying to make it with a caba girl (Japanese cabaret club hostess.)
In a strange way, the audience is able to relate to these quirky characters and feel like a guest at the motel.
Come spend one night at the "Seaside Motel" and it is sure to bring laughter and a little dose of happiness…
